The golden Dome is a somewhat ill defined vision, a wish list of capabilities.  It involves the concept of huge numbers of weapons in space ready to attack at any time, within just a few minutes of an enemy missile being launched.  The aim is to strike these missiles early on in the so-called Boost Phase.
