Salisbury CND Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day Candle Float

Event Date: 8th August 2022
Location: Salisbury, Fisherton Street Bridge, Dusk

We aim to be back on the river again this year, in our usual location.  Do mark the date in your diaries and come for what should be a very poignant event.  In the midst of growing threats of nuclear war, it is timely to remember and reflect on the previous use of such weapons.

We have lanterns from Hiroshima, decorated by school children there, together with a letter from the Mayor of Hiroshima.  This link shows you the students’ artwork:

We will be trying to film our event and, with the help of National CND, we will put together footage of all candle floats in the UK this year.  It’s an ambitious plan, so do come and help!

Just to get you in the mood, here are links to the previous films we made when lockdown inhibited our ability to put on large public events.
