Hiroshima and Nagasaki Commemorative Candle Float 2021

We decided to make a film this year to avoid drawing large crowds and risking the spread of Covid-19.We were so fortunate to have wonderful co-operation from a group in Hiroshima, who organised for us to receive a letter from the Mayor of Hiroshima.
They also sent us 5 of their lanterns to join with ours during the Candle Float.

Dear all,
Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation with the City of Hiroshima’s initiatives for peace.
This email is being sent to those with connections to our city, those who continue to support our city’s efforts for peace, and many others; we hope this email finds you safe and healthy.
We held the Peace Memorial Ceremony yesterday on August 6. Every year during the ceremony, the Mayor of Hiroshima delivers a Peace Declaration to world, calling for the elimination of nuclear weapons from our planet and the creation of lasting world peace.
We have made a video of Mayor Matsui delivering this year’s Peace Declaration in English so that our message may reach farther and wider around the globe.
