On Tuesday, MPs return to Westminster following the summer recess. We will be there to present a clear demand to the new Prime Minister: Sanction Israel now!
Please share our petition to help us reach our target before we deliver it to Downing Street next week.
The Government has said it will soon introduce “comprehensive measures” against Israel, which reportedly will include a ban on trade with Israel’s illegal settlements.
But to be truly “comprehensive”, the Government must go much further than this.
International law is clear on this: In July 2024, the International Court of Justice ruled that Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land is unlawful and that states – such as Britain – must ban activity that aids or assists the unlawful occupation.
This requires a ban on what’s ordinarily understood as “settlement trade”, but it extends much more widely too.
For example, the illegal settlements in the West Bank and the unlawful occupation are maintained by the Israeli military – using weapons supplied by Britain.
So “comprehensive measures” must include a full arms embargo as well. This demand is echoed in our petition. Please share it on social media and help us reach our target!
Share the petitionIt doesn’t stop there. Tech companies like Palantir, Oracle and Cisco supply technology that Israel uses to uphold its unlawful occupation.
So any “comprehensive measures” must exclude these companies from Government contracts until they end their involvement in Israel’s crimes.
And no set of measures would be “comprehensive” without action to end Britain’s complicity in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
So the petition demands Andy Burnham acknowledges the genocide and ends Britain’s complicity in it.
