The Russian occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, in southeastern Ukraine, has experienced its 27th blackout. For the 15th time this year, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe lost its external power supply. Automatic backup diesel generators have been activated after damage to a high-voltage line. A Ukrainian telegram read: “As emphasised by Pavlo Kvtunyuk, head of Energoatom, the regular blackouts at the ZNPP are wearing down equipment and increasing safety risks. Frequent activation of diesel generators leads to faster degradation of the equipment. “This latest blackout once again confirms that the situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant remains precarious. The risks to nuclear and radiation safety are being exacerbated by the incompetent actions of Russian ‘administrators’.
