Israel is using weapons produced in Britain to commit atrocities in Palestine.
Andy Burnham is still allowing this horrific trade in weapons to continue. Every day it continues is a day too late for Palestinians in Israel’s firing line. If you can, join the demonstration on Saturday against Elbit Systems in Shenstone, Staffordshire to demand that the government impose an arms embargo on Israel, and shuts down Elbit Systems’ sites in Britain. One of the companies producing this weaponry is Elbit Systems, which operates a number of factories and facilities in Britain.
These sites produce components for weapons that are exported to Israel, including for armed drones used to surveil and assassinate Palestinians. They also produce goods sold to the British military, generating profits used by the company to manufacture more weapons for Israel.
One of Elbit Systems’ sites is UAV Engines in Shenstone, Staffordshire. This Saturday 22 August, a regional demonstration is taking place supported by West Midlands PSC. Make plans to be there and demand the government impose an arms embargo on Israel and shuts Elbit Systems’ sites down.Join the protestWith its supply of British made weapons, Israel is intensifying its military assaults across Palestine and beyond, including in Lebanon, where Israeli strikes killed 11 people last Saturday.
Across the West Bank, the Israeli military is launching sweeping invasions of towns and villages. In each assault, Palestinians are killed, injured or arbitrarily arrested and imprisoned. All the while, armed settlers, assisted and protected by Israeli soldiers, are carrying out relentless attacks on Palestinians including by burning down their homes and farmland.
Palestinians are facing down and resisting this campaign to ethnically cleanse them from their homes and land.
They ask us to act in solidarity with them by pressuring the British government to stop enabling the atrocities they face, including by stopping the flow of weapons between Britain and Israel.
