Declassified UK: Land Grab in Cyprus

The British army has requisitioned a large area of Cypriot land to build over 130 military antennas, which campaigners fear will be used to spy on the Middle East.

While the land – amounting to over 60 football pitches – is technically in the British occupied part of Cyprus, it is part of an important conservation area and appears to be privately owned. This land grab has led to a furious response from Cypriot residents, who held a protest outside the RAF Akrotiri air base on Saturday.
