The truth about Palantir’s software

Posted: 14th August 2026

Dear Keep Our NHS Public,

I am copying below part of the message I got from Just Treatment, about how inadequate Palantir’s software is. We already know how the ideology of Palantir does not align with the NHS. This is what an NHS data analyst has to say, forced to speak anonymously to protect their job:

“Palantir’s software is clunky. Many of its tools are basic and regressive. Some of the built in apps don’t have the functionalities that NHS organisations actually need. And Palantir provides very limited support when issues need resolving. . . .

If the government is serious about getting the NHS back on its feet, Palantir is not the right partner. They have no serious track record in healthcare – the main thing they are very good at is marketing and lobbying.

But our movement is cutting through their lies, and now countries across Europe are waking up to the fact Palantir is no good. Government contracts are being cancelled in Germany, France and Spain – I know we can do the same here.

As a data analyst, I know that there are plenty of other options to replace Palantir which do not compromise quality, or involve collusion with companies that enable human rights abuses and war crimes. ”

This confirms that we can be confident there are solutions to the NHS data problems that are better than the ones Palantir is offering. Getting rid of Palantir when the contract comes up for renewal looks like a win-win.

What I’ve seen from the inside – and why I’m speaking out

Hi Jeanne,

I’m a data analyst working in the NHS, which means I have seen firsthand the flaws and risks of Palantir’s ‘Federated Data Platform’ software.

I must remain anonymous, because speaking out about this puts my job at risk. But I’m getting in touch because I believe patients deserve to know the truth. So here it is:

Palantir’s software is clunky. Many of its tools are basic and regressive. Some of the built in apps don’t have the functionalities that NHS organisations actually need. And Palantir provides very limited support when issues need resolving.

But it’s not just about the software. When we work with Palantir, we don’t just use their tech, we import their ideology – and Palantir’s ideology is at best deeply uncomfortable and at worst ethically bankrupt.

Palantir was founded for surveillance and military operations. So I am being forced to use software that’s enabled the deaths of thousands of my global healthcare colleagues. This has had a devastating impact on my wellbeing. I used to love my job so much, and now it makes me sad and sick.

That’s why I am doing all I can to get Palantir’s NHS contract cancelled, and I am proud to work with groups like Just Treatment who are fighting for this too.

They need to raise £5k by the end of this week to fund their next wave of campaign actions – can you help by clicking here and making a vital contribution?

If the government is serious about getting the NHS back on its feet, Palantir is not the right partner. They have no serious track record in healthcare – the main thing they are very good at is marketing and lobbying.

But our movement is cutting through their lies, and now countries across Europe are waking up to the fact Palantir is no good. Government contracts are being cancelled in Germany, France and Spain – I know we can do the same here.

As a data analyst, I know that there are plenty of other options to replace Palantir which do not compromise quality, or involve collusion with companies that enable human rights abuses and war crimes.

So we can win this fight. But we need to give it everything we’ve got in the coming weeks.

That’s why I’m supporting Just Treatment’s urgent campaign fundraiser – if you’re able to, please consider making a donation today.

Remember: the NHS belongs to all of us. Not to Palantir, not to government ministers, and not to tech leaders with their own political agendas.

Let’s keep pushing until Palantir is kicked out of our NHS for good.

Thanks so much for all that you do.
