“As Andy Burnham takes on the role of new Prime Minister, it is deeply concerning that he is continuing Keir Starmer’s warmongering agenda – even if it is dressed up as ‘reindustrialisation’.
This will be a disaster and drive the country closer towards nuclear war, drag the population even further into poverty and devastate our vital public services. Instead, we need political solutions to the conflicts we face and investment that will create genuine, sustainable growth and prosperity.”

Map of maximum potential radiation exposure for surrounding populations across 100 simulations of a nuclear strike on Faslane’s Clyde naval base.
“Since its inception in the 1940s, the Faslane naval base has been controversial among local communities and across Scotland. In fact, as the UK’s only nuclear weapons base, Faslane and the adjacent Coulport warhead storage depot are among the highest-value military targets in Europe in the case of a nuclear exchange targeting military facilities.
My findings illustrate some of the risks military facilities such as the Faslane naval base pose to local populations, especially when built so close to urban areas and critical civil infrastructure.”
