Bristol CND newsletter
Please follow the link above or
click here to read or download the latest edition of our local newsletter Peace Matters – information from Bristol, the UK and around the world about the campaign against nuclear weapons.
We are sending it to you and other local/national politicians and campaigning organisations in and around the Bristol area because we want to raise awareness of our campaigning activities and current key issues.
In this month’s edition there are articles including:
- Increases in military spending will cost jobs : Analysis shows that the slashing of government departments’ budgets in the DIP to fund the MoD will lead to a net loss of 10,000 jobs
- Hiroshima. Nagasaki. Never Again! : Join Bristol CND on College Green, at 10.30 am on Sunday 9th August, for a ‘die in’ followed by speeches and music, to mark the anniversary of the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
- Conscientious Objection in Britain’s Armed Forces : British Forces are still being used to provide training and other support to the Israeli military. Read about one Reservist who after ten years of service, successfully applied for discharge in protest at UK roles in Gaza genocide, increasing domestic authoritarianism and ongoing complicity in US–
Israeli crimes against humanity.
- Britain overtakes Russia to become third largest nuclear weapons spender
