Write to your MP ahead of an important debate in parliament next week.
Next Thursday, Abtisam Mohamed MP will sponsor a backbench debate in the House of Commons, calling for a ban on British trade with illegal Israeli settlements. This is an opportunity to push MPs, including the incoming Prime Minister, to take a meaningful step to halt Israel’s criminal actions.
Yesterday over 400 PSC supporters came to Parliament to take part in our mass lobby for Palestine, securing meetings with more than 70 MPs throughout the afternoon. Our presence was impossible for MPs to ignore — thank you to everyone who took part.
Now we all need to keep up the pressure.
This debate comes at a critical time, with Andy Burnham looking set to become Prime Minister. Keir Starmer’s shameful support for Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians was a major factor in his downfall and there is now growing pressure for a fundamental change in government policy. MPs must hear clearly from their constituents that continued inaction is unacceptable.
Please take action now.
Write to your MP today and ask them to attend and speak in the debate, and to use PSC’s briefing to press the government for sanctions against Israel.
Up until now, the government’s response to Israel’s ongoing genocide, apartheid, and illegal occupation has been utterly shameful. Next week’s debate in parliament marks an opportunity for change, but we need to make that happen.
Please take 2 minutes to write to your MP with a copy of PSC’s briefing.
In solidarity,
James
