Remembering Gaza & Watch: Planet Israel Q&A now available

Posted: 24th April 2026

Monica Spooner, Co-founder of the Balfour Project, now the Britain Palestine Project, received this letter from Noor, our young correspondent living in a displacement tent somewhere in the remains of Gaza City.

At this time all access to the Gaza Strip is closed – no humanitarian aid allowed in, no evacuation for urgent medical treatment, no progress towards a real ceasefire.

Dear friends,

Honestly, there are several important points that need to be understood within the full reality on the ground, not just from one analytical perspective. According to a report by CNN, there were direct talks between Hamas and the United States in Cairo. The discussions focused on ongoing violations by the occupation in the Gaza Strip and how to continue implementing the ceasefire terms effectively. This in itself shows that there are major complications in actually enforcing the agreement.

At the same time, the field reality over the past two days has been very clear—there has been intense escalation and heavy bombing in Gaza, which makes any talk about stability or adherence to agreements very difficult on the ground. There is also significant delay in implementing the agreed terms. For example, the formation of the technocratic government has been discussed for about 100 days, yet there is still no real entry into Gaza or practical implementation of this step, which reflects the level of obstruction happening.

Nothing has changed in our situation in the camp; everything is still the same. We haven’t adapted to anything. As for loss, I haven’t lost anyone in the family since my uncle and I can’t imagine going through that pain again. We sleep at night and wake up to the sound of shelling or gunfire. You are indeed fortunate in the West because of the safety and stability. Thank you for your sympathy and understanding.

The world is tired of hearing about our suffering, but Israel has not tired of committing human rights violations. I will always try to be a voice for this country, for my rights and the rights of the people. We must tell Israel and America: enough… they are setting the whole world on fire, not only Gaza.

BPP calls on the UK government to use every legal, political and diplomatic means at its disposal to pressure the government of Israel to end its illegal occupation of the State of Palestine, to immediately allow full access for aid to Gaza, to end military strikes on Gaza and to allow the UN access and control. The UK should also work with allies to implement the ICJ Advisory Opinion on illegal occupation and the ICJ Provisional Measures on Genocide. The UK can immediately stop all trade in goods and services with settlements, blacklist companies that bid for or help finance the planned E1 settlement, cancel UK preferential trade agreement and end all arms sales and intelligence co-operation with Israel.
