The Prime Minister visited HMNB Clyde on Saturday after arriving from
Paris following talks with fellow world leaders aimed at reopening the
Strait of Hormuz. The visit coincided with the return of HMS Vanguard to UK
waters after a lengthy deterrent patrol. The nuclear submarine, one of the
four Trident submarines that maintain the UK’s nuclear deterrent, had
reportedly been at sea for more than 200 days, marking one of the longest
deployments in Royal Navy history.
