Nuclear costs of Iran war

President Trump’s chilling (and illegal) threat toward Iran to destroy its entire civilization raised fears he might use nuclear weapons to do it. But even Iran’s civil nuclear power plant represents a genuinely catastrophic radiological risk should Israel or the US destroy it. And the lessons of Ukraine, whose reactors are under daily threat due to the Russian war there, should remind nations not to turn to nuclear power as a substitute for fossil fuels. READ MORE

Bombing Bushehr would be another Chornobyl

Destroying essential infrastructure that causes significant loss of human life is a war crime. Commercial nuclear power plants are no exception. Missiles have already landed close to Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant, threatening another Chornobyl. Meanwhile, Iran’s civil nuclear program served as the long searched-for excuse to attack Iran, even though it was clear from US intelligence sources and the IAEA that Iran was not on the path to an atomic bomb. READ MORE
