Starmer says the UK ’needed to go faster’ on increasing military spending. He wants the defence budget to reach 3% of GDP during the lifetime of this parliament, costing us an additional £15bn over the next five years.
Rachel Reeves will have to choose between imposing massive cuts to public spending or millions of us paying higher taxes. This is part of a European rearmament drive aimed at appeasing Trump, justified by propagandising about the threat of a Europe wide war.
