Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We’re pleased to share the latest updates on our recent activities.
First, the recording of our recent webinar, Welfare Not Warfare: How Militarisation Is Destroying Our Societies is now available.
The webinar examined the social costs of militarisation in Europe, with contributions from Members of the European Parliament, trade union representatives and civil society advocates. Speakers discussed rising military spending, the militarisation of public services and education, the ReArm Europe / Readiness 2030 plan, and the urgent need to revitalise the peace movement—especially among younger generations—while strengthening the role of trade unions and civil society in anti-war efforts.
Speakers:
• Ulrike Eifler – German trade union activist, Nie wieder Krieg – Die Waffen nieder
• Marc Botenga MEP – PTB Belgium, Member of the EP Committee on Security and Defence
• Alex Gordon – Vice-President, CND UK; former RMT President; co-author, Alternative Defence Review
• Facilitator: Ludo De Brabander – Vrede, Belgium
