Abolish US MIlitary Bases

Posted: 13th February 2026

World BEYOND War’s chapter in Madison, Wisconsin, U.S., got great media coverage this past weekend for a walk for peace on a frozen lake. That’s the sort of creative idea you might want to try where you are on February 21-23, and let us help promote it as part of the Global Days of Action to #CloseBases.

FIND OR CREATE AN EVENT HERE

You can do an event near a military base or not, indoors or outdoors. You can do . . .

  • An educational event using WBW resources and local information we can help you compile
  • A film screening or slide show or speakers presentation
  • A rally or vigil
  • A demonstrations at a decision-makers’ office
  • Flyering workers at the entrance gates as they drive in and out of a base
  • Celebratory events at base sites that have been prevented, closed, or converted
  • An event announcing a proposal to convert a base to something useful
  • A banner drop or art creating, or concert, or town-square rally or march
  • A march to a media outlet’s offices to ask for a meeting that has been denied
  • A snow sculpture, balloon sculpture, or spelling out words on a beach.

We have everything you need to make this super easy at https://daytoclosebases.org

Go there, add your event to the map, and we’ll help promote it.

Email us your questions and your brilliant ideas!
