The Rosebank oil field is a climate disaster waiting to happen, but the problem doesn’t stop there. 

If approved, Rosebank would not only produce more CO₂ than the 28 poorest countries do in a year – it could also send over £200 million to one of Israel’s biggest oil companies, which operates in illegal settlements in the West Bank and supplies fuel to the Israeli military.

Here’s the full petition text:

We, the undersigned, believe that the UK Government must:

1. Stop the flow of North Sea oil profits to companies linked to occupation and genocide in Palestine: The UK government must ensure that no profit from North Sea oil and gas exploitation goes to Ithaca Energy, or any other oil & gas companies that are complicit in the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories, or companies that provide services to the Israeli military. It can do this by denying permission to develop fossil fuel projects for Ithaca Energy, including rejecting the Rosebank oil field and future applications for the Cambo oil field.
   
   
2. Help end the genocide in Gaza and Israel’s occupation of Palestine: The UK government must ensure Israel’s genocidal attacks on Gaza permanently cease; implement an arms embargo on Israel; employ every diplomatic tool to help end the siege, genocide and ensure humanitarian aid access to Gaza, and to bring to an end Israel’s system of apartheid.
