Following on from the posts from Corinne, Ivana and Lisa, I am forwarding this from our friend in Berlin.
Lawlessness has tightened its grip on all our institutions. It has happenned faster than we thought, though the build-up has been years in the making.
Constant vigilance my friends,
Pippa
This far and no further!
We protest against the unlawful sanctions against Colonel Jacques Baud
and the EU’s war policy
With its latest package of sanctions, the EU has imposed sanctions on military historian and former colonel of the Swiss Strategic Intelligence Service Jacques Baud.
Jacques Baud is a Swiss citizen and lives in Brussels. He is no longer allowed to leave Belgium, his assets have been seized and his accounts frozen.
Jacques Baud has worked for NATO and the United Nations, among others. He is an impeccable scholar and a man of honour. His books meet the highest standards of professional historical analysis. He works in a strictly neutral manner according to the principle that
Both sides must be heard.
It is not a crime to name the true reasons for the war in Ukraine. It is not a crime to draw readers’ attention to the untruths and propaganda of the EU and NATO.
It is not a crime to point out the thoughtless cooperation of theWest with Ukrainian forces that show a dangerous proximity to fascists
.
With arbitrary punitive measures against journalists and academics such as Jacques Baud, Diana Panchenko, Alina Lipp, Thomas Röper and Hüseyin Dogru, the EU Council of Ministers is destroying the foundations of freedom of expression.
These sanctions are illegal and contrary to international law, as they were not imposed by the UN Security Council. The expert opinion of European Court of Justice judges Prof. Dr. Ninon Colneric and Prof. Dr. Alina Miron from the University of Angers shows that the
underlying legal acts also violate EU law. The EU is using the sanctions list as a tool to silence critics and is manoeuvring itself deeper and deeper into an abyss of lawlessness.
We call on the EU Council, the European Parliament, the German Bundestag, the German state and local parliaments, the entire German people and the people in all countries of the European Union to oppose the destroyers of democracy and the
warmongers with all their might.
The preamble to the Basic Law obliges Germany to serve peace.
The Basic Law stipulates in Article 5: ‘There shall be no censorship.’ The actions of the EU Commission and the EU Council are contrary to our Basic Law. We call on the Federal Government to draw attention to this illegal action in accordance with its oath of office.
We demand the immediate lifting of the illegal sanctions against Jacques Baud, against all journalists, scientists and EU citizens. We call on the Federal Government and the EU to contribute constructively to peace in Ukraine and to cease all unconstitutional attempts
to prolong the war.
