Help us grow the campaign against nuclear weapons in 2026

Posted: 17th December 2025

As we approach the end of 2025, it is important that we reflect on the challenges that we are facing, what we’ve achieved, as well as our priorities for the year ahead.

This year the nuclear threats have increased – with the terrifying nuclear brinksmanship over Ukraine, and the expansion of nuclear weapons globally. Britain’s purchase of nuclear-capable fighter jets adds to this threat. It is spending hundreds of billions to get Britain ‘war-ready’. And now Britain is hosting deadly US nuclear weapons at RAF Lakenheath.

We all understand the seriousness of these threats and how big the challenges are. Because of all your work and support, we’re stepping up to meet these by:

  • Our actions at Britain’s nuclear bases have helped build national and local opposition to the nuclear dangers and social deprivation caused by the nuclear industry.
  • Our commemorative activities for the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ensured we’ve helped a whole new generation of people learn about the horrific human cost of nuclear war.
  • Through the Alternative Defence Review (ADR), we’ve helped secure a real advance in the trade union movement, with members voting to support ‘Wages not Weapons’ – for investment in public services not war.
  • Our successful national conference brought together MPs, trade unionists, students, peace and climate activists – all united to halt nuclear expansion.
  • Our legal opinion exposing how Britain’s purchase of nuclear-capable fighter jets breaches the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is being used by peers and MPs to push for greater scrutiny. We’ve also exposed how the Ministry of Defence is putting us all at greater risk by exempting US visiting forces from nuclear safety laws.
  • As part of our role in the Palestine Coalition, we’ve continued to help mobilise hundreds of thousands against Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people, for an end to British complicity and for a nuclear-weapons free Middle East.
  • We’ve also increased our membership, our fundraising revenue and our social media reach!

So, as we look ahead to 2026, we really hope that you will join us in redoubling your efforts to keep up the pressure against this deadly nuclear expansion and war drive.

Help us to retain arms control frameworks, including a new START Treaty. Join us protesting at nuclear bases including RAF MarhamRAF LakenheathFaslane, in Scotland and the Aldermaston Atomic Weapons Establishment.

Please do get involved in your local groups to help us grow our campaigning activity across the UK.

Together we can, and we will, halt this nuclear nightmare and secure a peaceful, sustainable, nuclear-free future.

Please help us to build on these successes and ensure that we have the resources to continue this vital campaign work in 2026 by donating to our Winter Appeal.

You can also gift a CND membership to friends and loved ones, which will also help us to grow our base of supporters.
