Abingdon Peace Group: INVITE to party next Weds, report from Monday's zoom, and SAVE THE DATE for Gentle Angry Women
Posted: 14th December 2025
Dear Peace Group supporters,
You are warmly invited to bring yourself, your family and something which gives you hope for the world, to our Christmas party next Wednesday 3-5pm in St Ethelwold’s House. There will be mulled wine and cups of tea, nibbles and excellent company! An invitation is attached.
Please also
SAVE THE DATE for a screening of ‘Gentle Angry Women’ and Q&A with the director, Barbara Santi at 18:00 on Wednesday 11th March 2026. Tickets are already on sale at our lovely local cinema, The Abbey, for this film of 3 very young women who rediscovered the Greenham story and re-enacted the “Walk for Life on Earth” that ended at Greenham Common all those years ago. See the trailer here:
https://www.folklifefilms.co.uk/gentle-angry-women. It’s been showing to packed audiences in the South West and we are really lucky to have persuaded the Abbey to show it. Here is a booking link:

And finally, a member asked what he missed on Monday’s Zoom with Ukrainian and Russian Conscientious Objectors. You can read about it and watch presentations by the two peace workers (who work with COs, draft evaders and deserters from both Russian and Ukrainian armies) here:
https://www.ppu.org.uk/news/russian-and-ukrainian-conscientious-objectors-speak-out . For obvious reasons the men themselves were not recorded as their freedom is still at risk whether in Georgia or Germany.
Have a very peaceful Christmas, hope to see some of you next week!

Secretary, Abingdon Peace Group
