The School Strike Against Conscription alliance is organizing protests in several cities on Friday. The Bundestag (German Parliament) will vote on the new conscription law that day.
Youth and student organizations have called for a nationwide day of protest against the federal government’s conscription plans on Friday. The Bundestag will vote on the proposed conscription law that day. Two school strikes against conscription are planned in Berlin. According to a police spokesperson, a total of 3,000 participants are expected there.
According to Deutschlandfunk, the organizing School Strike Against Conscription alliance is supported by, among others, peace organizations, the education union GEW, and the BSW.
