This week, it was confirmed that Israel used banned cluster munitions in its invasion and bombing of Lebanon. Cluster munitions indiscriminately disperse multiple bombs over a wide area, causing high casualties and suffering. These cluster munitions were manufactured by Elbit Systems – an arms company central to producing Israel’s arsenal of weaponry used to kill and maim Palestinians.
Barclays continues to invest in Elbit Systems, profiting from and legitimising the manufacture of these horrific weapons. Will you sign our new petition to demand that Barclays ends all financial ties to companies arming Israel?
Sign the petitionBy continuing to invest in Elbit Systems, Barclays is in violation of its own internal policy, which states it will not provide financing to “companies known to trade in, or manufacture cluster munitions”.
Barclays provides over £8billion of investment and loans to companies arming Israel. Furthermore, Barclays has a direct agreement with Israel to act as a ‘primary dealer’ for its government bonds. This means it helps Israel raise money to fund the cost of its genocide in Gaza, and military occupation West Bank.
We must keep up the pressure. Sign and share our petition to let Barclays know you’re boycotting the bank until it stops enabling Israel’s atrocities.
Sign the petitionIsrael is still raining down bombs down on Gaza, with 33 Palestinians killed in strikes on Khan Younis and Gaza City on Wednesday. Over 300 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed since the so-called “ceasefire” came into effect.
In the West Bank, Israel is ramping up its military invasions of towns and refugee camps. On Friday, two Palestinians, including a child, were shot dead by Israeli forces in Kafr Aqab, north of Jerusalem.
Israel’s military attacks on Lebanon also continue. 13 people were killed this week in bombing near Ein El Hilweh Camp, the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon.
Palestinians are calling for us to take action against financial institutions and companies, like Barclays, that help enable the horrific violence that they face.
