Following the news that the government is buying 12 nuclear capable fighter jets, meaning that Britain will be able to launch nuclear weapons from both the sea and sky for the first time in decades, it’s vital we build a broad-based campaign against this nuclear expansion.
This is why CND is organising a National Conference to bring together peace and anti-nuclear campaigners, climate and global justice activists, trade unionists and students to examine how we can build opposition to the government’s decision to buy these nuclear jets, which will put us at risk and make us poorer. We will be analysing the accelerating war drive internationally, and the Starmer government’s determination to make Britain ‘war ready’, which is driving poverty and climate breakdown, as well as fuelling the far right.
Make sure you join us and get involved in helping to build this vital campaign. There will plenty of opportunity for discussion with workshops and practical sessions on how to organise in your communities.

The conference is not the only next step in our campaign against Britain’s nuclear expansion. Following the publication of our legal opinion which shows that the government is breaking international law in buying these jets, we are building pressure for a debate in parliament.
A huge thank you to the hundreds of you who have already emailed your MP on this. If you haven’t already please get in touch using our easy tool and pass on to your friends and family. MPs are back from their conference break on Monday so let’s make sure their inboxes are full!
All to London for Palestine this Saturday
The news that a ceasefire might now be secured in Palestine is very much to be welcomed. Stopping the horrific bombardment and slaughter of the Palestinian people and releasing all the hostages could not be more urgent. What is needed now is huge political pressure to ensure Israel actually abides by this ceasefire and withdraws from Gaza. This makes our campaigning all the more urgent.
If you’re not attending CND’s AGM, please make sure you’re on Saturday’s demonstration for an end to Israel’s genocide. We’re continuing to stand up to the government’s attempts to clamp down further on our right to protest too. Join us!
