Another golden nuclear rip-off

As Trump landed in Britain for his state visit the UK government borrowed his rhetoric to announce a “Golden Age of Nuclear” deal between the two countries that is anything but. Promising working class jobs and “energy independence,” it is instead another bonanza for predominantly US corporations and their unproven and unlicensed reactor designs, ensuring more costly delays in tackling the climate crisis instead of funding genuine remedies. READ MORE

Danger Déjà vu in Ukraine

A prolonged power outage causing workers to resort to diesel generators for more than a week has raised renewed alarm about a possible disaster in the making at the currently closed Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in war torn Ukraine. Meanwhile, a new report reveals gross human rights abuses against plant workers by the occupying Russian forces, leading to further concerns about plant safety. READ MORE
