CND at Labour Party Conference 2025
CND will be on the ground in Liverpool for Labour Party Conference to speak out against the government’s plan to expand its nuclear weapons programme as well as its continued support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
On Saturday 27 September, CND will be taking part in the Stop Starving Gaza national demonstration in Liverpool. Assemble from 12 noon on St. George’s Plateau, Liverpool, L1 1LQ.
On Sunday 28 September, CND is organising an important fringe event at Labour Party Conference. Britain’s nuclear expansionism – Who pays the price?, calls for government spending that tackles real threats – poverty, inequality, and climate breakdown – not preparing for a war that could go nuclear. This meeting takes place outside the secure conference zone, so is open to anyone on a first-come, first-served basis.
CND is also sending vans with huge digital screens to the Conference, calling on the government to stop spending £205 billion on nuclear weapons and to invest this money on real human security concerns like climate change and child poverty instead. We’re aiming to get these vans parked outside the conference centre during the Prime Minister’s speech!
Through the support of our members and supporters, we’ve now raised £14,000 towards our target of £16,500 for the cost of these Advans. Please consider making a donation to help us pull this off! At the top of this email is the image that we’ll be using to deliver this powerful message.

Next steps for the campaign to kick out Trump’s nukes from Britain
Donald Trump’s state visit to Britain has come and gone but he leaves behind a particularly nasty legacy – US B61-12 nuclear bombs in the heart of East Anglia at RAF Lakenheath. As part of the mobilisation by dozens of civil society organisations and trade unions against Trump’s visit, CND and Lakenheath Alliance for Peace held a protest outside RAF Lakenheath last Saturday to call on Keir Starmer to kick out Trump’s nukes from Britain.
In addition to raising awareness about the deadly presence of these weapons of mass destruction and Lakenheath’s role in supporting Israel’s genocide in Gaza, protesters wanted to raise their opposition with those who run the base. Efforts to deliver a letter to the base commander were frustrated, with the base refusing to accept a letter from our delegation and a wall of silence from local police. Instead protestors, folded letters into airplanes and flew them over the perimeter fence! You can read a full report of the protest by CND Vice-President Kate Hudson Lakenheath Alliance for Peace vigil at RAF Lakenheath
