Recognition is the beginning

We’re pleased to share two powerful new podcast episodes exploring one of the most urgent questions in UK and international politics: recognition of the State of Palestine.

Palestine Matters Podcast – Why Recognition of Palestine Matters
Recorded at the Beyond Borders International Festival in Scotland, host Diana Safieh is joined by:
  • Humza Yousaf, former First Minister of Scotland, who speaks movingly both as a political leader and as a family member of Palestinians trapped in Gaza.
  • Sir Vincent Fean, former British Consul-General in Jerusalem and BPP trustee, who brings historical and diplomatic insight into Britain’s responsibilities.
Together they explore why recognition is an inalienable right of the Palestinian people, Britain’s historic obligations, and how recognition must lead to decisive measures – ending arms sales, enforcing international law, and securing equal rights.

Listen now: Palestine Matters is available on all podcast platforms and our website.

Is International Law in Crisis? – Recognition
Host Lara Bird-Leakey responds to the UK’s formal recognition of Palestine, asking: what happens next?
  • What does this mean in practice for Palestinians?
  • Will it change the UK government’s position on ICJ measures and advisory opinions?
  • How do we ensure recognition goes beyond symbolism to real change?
Listen here.

 In the Media
Our trustee Sir Vincent Fean has also been speaking on recognition in the UK press and broadcast media:
  • Interviewed by Trevor Phillips on Times Radio
  • Interviewed by Justin McCarthy on RTE Radio
Both appearances underline our central message: recognition must be given meaning through action rooted in international law.

We hope you’ll listen, share, and join the call to turn recognition into real steps towards justice and equal rights for Palestinians and Israelis alike.

With thanks,
The Britain Palestine Project Team
