Efforts to clean up contaminated soil and reassure consumers that seafood is safe are two of the challenges plaguing recovery at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear site and surrounding areas, writes John LaForge.

Fukushima failures

The Japanese seafood industry continues to struggle 14 years after the Fukushima nuclear disaster, while miles of radioactively contaminated soil also remain a problem. Costs are soaring as Tepco struggles to manage the melted fuel inside the destroyed reactors. And a recent major earthquake in far east Russia prompted evacuations in Japan and uncomfortable flashbacks to the 2011 triple disasters there. READ MORE
