Fighting Back Against The Far Right Starts With Joining Stop the War

As bombs continue to fall on Gaza, enabled by the US and our own government, Donald Trump received a lavish royal welcome during his state visit costing UK taxpayers tens of millions of pounds.

Hosting Trump is not just an expensive affair. It signals the reinforcement of the ‘special relationship’ between UK and US, the government’s continued loyalty to the US war machine and a violent foreign policy agenda that fuels genocide. It also means more support for Israel, more arms for Ukraine and an increase in defence spending to serve corporate and military interests while fascists are protected and protesters are punished. Tommy Robinson’s far right mobilisation last Saturday was the largest in British history and Trump’s presence has given further momentum to the far-right and emboldened the likes of Farage and Robinson who thrive on division, xenophobia, and nationalism.

Trump’s visit reminds us what we’re up against. More than 20000 people protested yesterday against his politics of hate, violence, racism, militarism and climate destruction. But it is not enough. To defeat him and the far right, we have to organise the anti-war movement like never before. And for that, we need your support. We must organise ourselves in the streets, in our communities and against every institution complicit in war.

Every arms sale, every war and every act of violence strengthens authoritarian regimes, fuels global injustice, and diverts resources away from public services and climate action. That’s why becoming a member of Stop the War matters now more than ever. When you join, you’re not just supporting the fight against war, racism, and the far right – you become an active part of a growing movement for change.
