8 days to go – spread the word about 6 September
Newsletter 29/08/25
Israel is escalating its assault on the Palestinians from the level of a genocide. Netanyahu has of course the full backing of Donald Trump and the more than tacit support of the other western powers. The Starmer government is refusing to do the things that could make a difference – stopping all arms sales, expelling diplomats and imposing sanctions.
What it is doing is stepping up its attack on the movement. The government and the police are continuing to restrict the right to protest – banning pots and pans is the latest ploy – arresting hundreds of people protesting the Palestine Action ban and pressing charges against leaders of the Palestine Coalition.
We need to be clear though, the tremendous movement of resistance is creating a crisis for the government. The overwhelming majority of the country now supports our aims.
Our job is to reach out into every town, every community and every workplace to mobilise this majority.
In the next week we are asking everyone to push for the biggest possible turnout for 6 September.
The demonstration will be marching from Russell Square to Whitehall to protest at the government’s continued collusion but also to show solidarity with the Defend Our Juries protest in Parliament Square.
Building it far and wide means:
Organising stalls and leafletting in as many areas as possible
Making announcements in union meetings, at cultural events and campaign meetings
Organising delegations from your workplace
Leafletting key workplaces in your area
Leaflets are available from the Stop the War office.

Please dig deep for peace
In order to support this extremely high level of activity, Stop the War is running a summer appeal for £20,000.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have already raised £16,000, but we urgently need to hit our target.
Please donate now and help build the resistance.
Do also join Stop the War. We need more organisers and activists to help build the movement in every corner of the country. You can join Stop the War here.
