National march for Palestine – Saturday 19 July
The news from Gaza gets worse and worse. People are killed trying to get food aid, 90,000 children require medical attention for malnutrition, yet the government continues to arm Israel, conducts spying flights over Gaza and criminalises those who stand up against genocide.
This is why we need everyone of you to join us tomorrow, Saturday 19 July.
We are the majority. Consistent polling shows the majority of the public support Palestine. The government may try to silence us, but we will not be silenced.
Tomorrow we march through the centre of London, from Embankment to Whitehall. We will be joined by Jeremy Corbyn MP, Leanne Mohamad (Palestinian activist), Richard Burgon MP, Mohammed Mustafa (medical doctor), Jen Brister (comedian), Nadine Shah (singer), Jo Grady (UCU Gen. Sec.), and more.
Defend the Right to Protest
The attacks on our movement have reached a new level. First they accused us of being hate marchers and of being anti-semitic for opposing Israel’s genocide. Then they came for the leaders of the mass protest movement and artists who spoke out. Now they have proscribed a direct action group under terrorism legislation, and are using this proscription to threaten and scare activists.
So now we witness armed police threatening to arrest a woman in Kent for holding a Palestinian flag and signs saying ‘Free Gaza’ and ‘Israel is committing a genocide’. This is designed to spread fear and divide the movement. It will not work.
We must build the widest possible movement to defend our hard-won rights to protest. The statement by 22 leaders of the trade union movement was a very powerful beginning.
We ask all those who can to join us outside Westminster Magistrates Court on 31 July as we stand in solidarity with Stop the War chair Alex Kenny and CND general secretary Sophie Bolt as they face charges for peacefully protesting for Palestine.
