Breaking News: U.S. Lockheed Martin offers UK missile shield amid growing Russian aerial threats

Posted: 20th June 2025

The UK is pursuing its own missile defence shield (see https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/uk-missile-defence-project-shortlists-tendering-companies/) and so are several European countries, led by Germany (see https://www.firstpost.com/explainers/push-for-european-sky-shield-gains-momentum-what-is-it-13774485.html).

It seems that faith in the US-NATO system is waning?

Looks like some US contractors (e.g. Lockheed Martin) will be involved but it is unclear how all these systems are being coordinated, if at all.

Trouble is, the public believe they do work, because that’s what they are told and governments want to give the impression that they have got it covered for electoral reasons.

It’s getting ridiculous! We have to carry on telling people the truth about the failures and the cost.

This confirms that the US can’t afford to pay for Golden Dome and is already hitting up the allies to help pay for it

But theoretically once in place GD will be controlled by the US – not the allies who will have virtually no say in how, when or where it will be used
