Catch Up: “From Tanks to Tearfund – one man’s journey towards peace”

Posted: 19th June 2025

Dear friends,
David Couzens gave a fascinating account of his work in the Peacebuilding team of Tearfund last night. Hot off the press was the news that the All-party Parliamentary Group on Conflict Prevention, Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding (Who even knew there was such a lovely group?) have amassed a large number of establishment figures as signatories to a letter (attached) to Starmer asking him to rethink proposed cuts to the peacebuilding budget.

David asked us to publicise this in any way we can – via letters to the press or to our favourite magazine, in our families, churches, football clubs – or peace groups! The excellent work of peacebuilding done by David and so many other people like him is at risk if his funding is cut.

I attach the slides from last night along with the letter. Here is a link to the Times Article and also to the full letter on Alex Ballinger’s website (MP and chair of the APPG).
