Email your MP to demand a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel now

The steps taken yesterday by the government are grotesquely inadequate and will serve to maintain Britain’s complicity in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.  

All MPs must demand that the government introduce a comprehensive arms embargo on Israel now. Take action by emailing your MP today.

The pressure of our mass movement for Palestine means that the political establishment is slowly shifting. In Parliament yesterday, David Lammy described Israel’s blockade as “intolerable”, saying it is “morally wrong, unjustifiable” and “needs to stop.” He described Israel’s plans to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from Gaza as “repellent” and “monstrous”.  

His statement outlined that the government was suspending trade talks with Israel and summoning the Israeli ambassador. This isn’t nearly enough to begin to end Britain’s complicity in Israel’s genocide.

This Friday, we’re holding an emergency protest in London to demand an arms embargo now. Join us at 6.30pm at Downing Street.

The government continues to export weapons and components used by Israel in its genocidal assault, including parts for Israel’s F-35 fighter jets used to drop 2000lb bombs on Gaza. Last week, the government was in court defending these exports, shamefully arguing that the integrity of the F-35 supply chain was more important than stopping Israel’s genocide.  

Without taking further action, Tuesday’s statement will be recognised as just a last ditch attempt to salvage its reputation as a government that has enabled Israel’s crimes.

We must maintain the pressure. Write to your MP and demand they call for an arms embargo now.

The government must abide by its legal responsibilities and take all the necessary steps to prevent and punish Israel’s genocide, and end all aid and assistance to Israel’s unlawful military occupation.

This means an immediate and comprehensive arms embargo to end all arms trade and military collaboration with Israel, an end to all trade that supports Israeli apartheid, and wide-ranging sanctions on Israel and its government ministers.
