We had yet another huge demonstration for Palestine yesterday where more than half a million marched in solidarity with the Palestinian people. The significance of our demonstrations lie not only in their scale but also in our message: the world is watching, and people from all backgrounds are standing up against the genocide and forced famine in Gaza. All of these demonstrations have been led or supported by Stop the War, which has long played a crucial role in opposing war and militarism.
We are now seeing cracks emerge in what was once unwavering Zionist support – even Conservative MPs are beginning to speak out, condemning the Israeli government’s actions. This proves that mass protests, public solidarity, and grassroots organising are making an impact. And yet, while members of other parties have broken ranks, the Labour leadership continues to offer political cover for a war that has destroyed families, flattened hospitals, and murdered and starved civilians. This is morally indefensible and increasingly out of step with public opinion.
Our movement has shown remarkable resilience and consistency for 20 months. Week after week, month after month, people have come together – through protests, marches and public meetings – demonstrating unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause. But with momentum comes responsibility – and the road ahead requires all of us.
We’re pushing back against decades of occupation, misinformation, and injustice. To make meaningful change, we need to grow not only in numbers but in strength, strategy, and support. That’s why we’re urging you to take the next step and become a member to help sustain our efforts for justice and freedom for Palestinians.
