Today we’re asking Co-op members to vote to end the supermarket’s complicity in Israel’s genocide

Posted: 12th May 2025

This week we’re emailing you every day as part of our week of action for Palestine around the 77th anniversary of the Nakba.

Today we’re asking Co-op members to vote to end the supermarket’s complicity in Israel’s genocide.

The Co-op regularly stocks Israeli products despite the knowledge that they are supporting Israel’s genocide, military occupation and apartheid against Palestinians. But you can help put an end to this.

As part of the week of action for Palestine we’re calling on all coop members to vote FOR motion 13 at the Co-op AGM, which calls on the supermarket to “cease all trading with Israel”.

Vote now before the deadline TOMORROW on 12 May!

Vote for Motion 13

Motion 13 has garnered opposition from the group UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI). In a letter they wrote to the Co-op, they made the abhorrent suggestion that the famine Israel has engineered in Gaza could increase life expectancy because it would decrease obesity rates. We’ve called out UKLFIfor this sickening comment, but the best way to push back is for everyone who is eligible to vote FOR motion 13.

If you are eligible, vote for motion 13. Either way, tell your friends and family to get the message out that voting closes tomorrow.

Send this information on how to vote to everyone you know!

Palestinians ask people of conscience to boycott Israeli goods and demand their removal from the shelves, as a means of isolating Israeli apartheid and supporting their struggle for freedom.

Israeli companies, shipping fruits, vegetables and wines to supermarkets in Britain, operate farms and facilities in illegal Israeli settlements based on stolen Palestinian land. They benefit from Israel’s systematic destruction of Palestinian agriculture. By trading with these companies, supermarkets are supporting Israel’s colonisation and military occupation, and fuelling Israel’s apartheid economy.

Whilst Israel is blocking food to the Gaza Strip as a weapon of war, we can’t stand by as British shops carry Israeli food items on their shelves.

By stocking Israeli products the Co-op is complicit in Israel’s violence and apartheid rule. Vote now for motion 13 to end this complicity.
