Throughout the coming week we will commemorate the Nakba

Throughout the coming week we will commemorate the Nakba, marking the ongoing catastrophe inflicted on the Palestinian people since the early twentieth century. As we acknowledge this important milestone, Israel continues to intensify its brutal policies of genocide, ethnic cleansing and starvation. Just this week, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich declared that “Gaza will be entirely destroyed” while Israel ramped up home demolitions and forcibly displaced thousands of Palestinians in the West Bank.

Today, our branches will be out in communities across the country to fight these harrowing developments. Will you join them?

From Birmingham to Brighton to Bristol, across London and towns and cities in between, our members will be out in droves with clear demands – stop arming Israel and end the genocide of the Palestinian people. They will march, demonstrate, gather at supermarkets for our Don’t Buy Apartheid campaign, picket Barclay Bank to demand an end to the company’s complicity in Israel’s crimes, and they need your help!

This day of local action kicks off a full week of activity, culminating in the massive national demonstration in London on Saturday, 17 May. Keep an eye on your inbox, as we will be in touch each day with details of actions that you can take – there is something for everyone to do.

We will be taking action in our workplaces, in parliament, online and in the streets, to fight for Palestinian rights, as we prepare to gather in our hundreds of thousands in London.

At this crucial moment, our actions and solidarity mean everything.

Sincerely,

Andrew Meyer

This week marks 77 years of ongoing Nakba, when we commemorate the ethnic cleansing of over 750,000 Palestinians who were driven from their homes by Israel in 1948. This week, take action daily in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for freedom and justice and join us at Embankment, London on 17 May when we march for Palestine.
