Stop the War's Winter Appeal

We have inched closer to a direct war between Western powers and Russia this week as the Ukraine war moved into a new and dangerous stage.

With the backing of President Biden and Prime Minister Starmer Ukraine began firing US and UK-made missiles deep inside Russian territory, heedless of the possible retaliations by Russia, including the use of its nuclear arsenal.  

As Biden ends his his term in office by pushing the world to the brink of WW3, the next few months are looking increasingly perilous. Starmer is doing all he can to support US action, and John Healey, UK Defence Secretary, stated, “we as a nation are doubling down on our support for Ukraine and are determined to do more.”

We must increase our campaigning to match this escalation. We need to push hard for an immediate ceasefire. This is why we need your help.

We have set a challenging target of £60,000 for our winter appeal, and are half-way there. But there’s still a long way to go.

Each Storm Shadow missile is estimated to cost up to £2million – about the same as the annual budget for the average primary school. But unlike the warmongers and weapons manufacturers we do not have millions at our fingertips. To build our campaigns and our movement we need to raise funds urgently.

Support for the war in Ukraine has plummeted in recent months. In Ukraine polls show the majority want an end to the war as soon as possible. Hardly surprising given the number of casualties inflicted and the infrastructural damage. The people of Ukraine do not want to face another freezing winter without heating or electricity, nor do they want their sons, brothers or fathers conscripted and sent to their death.
