Israel is increasingly isolated and the UK government is divided

Posted: 7th April 2024

Israel is increasingly isolated and the UK government is divided. Support for Israel has never been more precarious.

Fresh horrors witnessed this week, including the strikes on Iran and the attack on World Central Kitchen aid workers, have led to open splits among Israel’s allies. There are bitter divisions in both the UK’s main political parties over supporting Israel’s war and continuing UK arm sales. Even some cabinet ministers are saying this trade should stop.

The pressure is coming from people like you, from the millions who have displayed their support for Palestine and their palpable anger at the genocide being committed in plain sight. Protesting on the streets week after week, demonstrating outside arms factories and lobbying our political representatives is beginning to pay off.

We cannot stop now. But sustaining this level of activity over so many months is expensive.

Last week we were at the NEU national conference where we had a stall and a very successful fringe meeting. Next week we will be building for the regional days of action and the London protest scheduled for Saturday 13th April, and we are beginning to work on the next National Demonstration set for 27th April. All of this is in addition to organising meetings and providing speakers for events around the country.

Help us keep campaigning.
