Spiralling wars mean we must keep up the pressure

The Palestine coalition took its message to Liverpool this weekend, calling on Andy Burnham’s government to recognise the genocide, stop supporting Israel and impose full sanctions. Burnham’s government has showed it can listen, but its limited sanctions do not go far enough and we must make them go further. 

So in Liverpool we made our voices heard. The government must recognise the genocide and hold those responsible to account. We also handed out hundreds of flyers building for the global day of action for Palestine and the national demonstration on 10 October, as well as for our national Welfare not Warfare tour, while around the country StW groups have distributed thousands more.

The US-Israeli war on Iran has escalated and spread across the region. Britain is becoming increasingly involved offering military support to Saudi Arabia – a murderous regime. We must not allow this to go unopposed. 

The conflicts raging in the Middle East are causing devastation there and crisis here, with costs rising in supermarkets and at the petrol pumps. At this time of global instability the response should not be more arms and a military build up, but supporting struggling families, investing in our crumbling infrastructure and pulling out all the stops to negotiate for peace. This what we are demanding. Please help us.
