 message from STAF

Hello all,

We are having a meeting later this month to start planning the resistance to the DSEI arms fair, which is planned to return to the ExCeL centre in Newham next year.

The meeting will take place on September 24th from 11am-4pm at Friends House in Euston (https://www.friendshouse.co.uk/) followed by a social nearby (venue to be decided). The meeting will cover what the DSEi arm fair is, how we propose to organise this time as a network, brainstorm about what we could do for 2023 and more.

In 2021, DSEI brought together over 30,000 arms buyers and dealers to network and make deals. Governments and military delegations, including from countries involved in military conflicts and at war and on the government’s own list of human rights abusers, browsed the wares of 1,600+ arms companies selling everything from guns and bombs to fighter jets and warships. They were be joined by companies selling surveillance equipment, drones and other tools of repression to police and state agencies, as Counter Terror Expo took place alongside DSEI. DSEI is an important event for the UK state, which heavily subsidises and promotes the arms industry, and helps organise the arms fair. It is where war starts but it is also where we can stop it.

It would be great to see as many of there as possible and to build a strong and diverse movement against this heinous fair.

There is a Facebook event so feel free to share that – https://www.facebook.com/events/581374470407404/

In peace and solidarity,
