Maine’s Statewide Anti-Imperialist Coalition

Since early 2022, activists in Maine have been showing up every month at busy intersections all across the state, brandishing signs against the many manifestations of U.S. imperialism: the Ukraine proxy war on Russia, US-Israeli wars across West Asia, the genocide in Gaza, aggressions in Venezuela and Cuba, and ICE raids and killings. Their persistent public witness has become a mainstay of visible resistance around the state and has been increasingly met with positive responses from those driving by.

In this webinar, lead organizers for these actions will discuss their organizing strategies and points of view about the issues they are addressing and the state of U.S. imperialism.

Bruce Gagnon is the Coordinator of the Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space. He is a US war on Vietnam era veteran and was trained by the United Farm Workers Union as an organizer. Bruce lives in Brunswick, Maine. He blogs at Organizing Notes.

Lisa Savage is a retired school teacher and former candidate for the U.S. Senate who organizes in Maine. She blogs at went2thebridge.substack.com.
