Omer Bartov is an Israeli-American scholar and Dean’s Professor of Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Brown University. One of the world’s leading historians on war crimes and genocide, Bartov has written extensively on interethnic violence, historical memory, and the politics of the present.

His recent works include Anatomy of a Genocide, which won the National Jewish Book Award, and Genocide, the Holocaust and Israel-Palestine, named a Choice Outstanding Academic Title. His latest book, Israel: What Went Wrong? (2026), brings urgent historical insight to one of the most pressing questions of our time.

In this timely conversation, we’ll explore:
