No War on Venezuela: Global Day of Action

Event Date: 17th January 2026
Location: Many places

Trump has now bombed Venezuela, kidnapped its president, and claimed that he would run the country. This is utter destruction of any rule of law.

World BEYOND War, with its chapters and allied organizations around the world, including a chapter in Venezuela, is deeply concerned about the latest escalation of military aggression by the Trump administration against Venezuela. We are announcing a Global Day of Action in Solidarity with Venezuela on Saturday, January 17.

We’re calling on individuals and organizations to organize actions in the streets and squares of the world! Actions can take many shapes and sizes, from rallies, vigils, and sit-ins at U.S. embassies, military bases, elected officials’ offices, marches and protests in town squares, to teach-ins and forums, to letter-writing, phonebanking, petitioning, passing local resolutions, and more. Find event organizing resources here.

World BEYOND War and our allies are calling for the defense of the UN Charter, which makes it a crime to wage war or threaten to do so, except in cases of defense or authorization by the United Nations, none of which are present in this case.

The United States government has been justifying its illegal actions in the Southern Caribbean under the false narrative of combating drug trafficking and transnational crime. This has resulted in the killing of more than 100 people in boat bombings, with no evidence of such crimes having been proven.

Added to this is the air and naval blockade against Venezuela. Today, the United States has 25% of its Navy concentrated in this region of the world, with nearly 15,000 troops, including warships, aircraft carriers, missile launchers, and nuclear-capable submarines, a military build-up that threatens regional peace and stability.

These actions are rejected by peace advocates around the world. Even in the United States, recent polls show that a majority of the population opposes a new war. We are collecting signatures on a petition to U.S. Congress to put an end to this war, which we will deliver on January 14. If you have not yet signed the petition, you can do so here.

These new aggressions, added to the sanctions against Venezuela, are part of the renewed Monroe Doctrine, based on the recently published U.S. National Security Doctrine and claimed by the U.S. president as the “Trump corollary,” in which Latin America is considered his backyard.

In the face of these serious events that threaten to add to the long list of wars promoted by the United States, we are mobilizing. We invite you to join us on January 17 for the Global Day of Action in Solidarity with Venezuela to oppose this and all wars.

Take action in solidarity with Venezuela:

For a world beyond war,
