Protest at Wimbledon to call on the tennis tournament to drop genocide-enabling Barclays as a sponsor

Event Date: 30th June 2025
Location: Wimbledon Tennis Tornament

Barclays has become a toxic brand. Over the past 18 months, it’s lost many thousands of customers due to our campaigning, and faced strong protests at every event that it sponsors.

We must keep up the pressure on the bank. On Monday 30 June, we’re protesting at Wimbledon to call on the tennis tournament to drop genocide-enabling Barclays as a sponsor. Join us.

Barclays is a ‘primary dealer’ of Israel government bonds. This means it has a direct agreement with Israel to help it sell its bonds to raise money to fund its atrocities against Palestinians.

The bank also provides investment and loans worth billions to arms companies supplying Israel with weapons and military technology used to kill and maim Palestinians.

Recently, the renowned playwright Caryl Churchill pulled work from the Donmar Warehouse because of its Barclays sponsorship. Her action was supported by an open letter from over 300+ playwrights and theatre workers. In addition, the band Massive Attack insisted that all Barclays branding was removed from its gig at Co-op live. Everywhere Barclays goes, it is facing opposition over its complicity in genocide.

Barclays uses sponsorship of sports and culture to try to improve its shattered reputation, and shield itself from accountability over its role in enabling Israel’s genocide in Palestine. We can ensure that the bank’s cover-up doesn’t work by holding loud and vibrant protests at events that it sponsors. We can let people know about the shameful reality of Barclays support for Israeli apartheid and press for it to end.

Make sure Barclays keeps feeling the heat by joining the protest on the opening day of the Wimbledon tennis tournament on Monday 30 June.
